The Adirondacks Part 2

This past weekend Will and I went to the Adirondacks for our quarterly hiking (err... showshoeing...) trip. We went there last December and had such a blast hiking in the snow that we decided to do it again this year. It didn't disappoint. It's such a still and peaceful experience.

A snowy trail

Day one: Wright Peak

We did Wright Peak on day one, starting at the Loj. The trail was empty, with the exception of a few cross-country skiers at the start. I think the temperature was around 0F, but at the top it was around -30F with the ~60 mph winds. I have no idea how deep the snow was close to the top, but it's pretty cool to just see the tips of the trees poking out.

Day two: Porter and Cascade

We did Porter and Cascade on day two. This is a more popular hike because it's relatively short and you get an awesome 360 view at the summit of Cascade. The side-quest to Porter is also relatively short, so it's an easy way to bag two of the 46ers relatively quickly. It was an exceptionally clear day, so we were able to get some great views from both peaks. Although not shown in the pictures, I'm pretty sure we were able to spot Mansfield and Camel's Hump across Lake Champlain.
